Trick

One round of play where each of the four players lays one card. The highest card of the led suit wins — or the highest spade if any are played. The winner of a trick leads the next one.

Bust / Break

When a player fails to make their called number of tricks. A bust results in a negative score equal to the player's call value for that round — one of the most painful outcomes in Callbreak.

Overcut

When a player plays a higher spade over an opponent's spade already played in the same trick. Overcutting is a critical tactical move to take control of a trick away from an opponent who has already trumped.

Bonus Fraction

For every trick won above your called bid, you receive 0.1 extra points added to your score. Winning 2 extra tricks on a call of 4 gives you 4.2 points for that round.

Follow Suit

If you hold cards in the suit that was led, you must play one of them. You can only play a spade or another suit if you are completely void (hold no cards) in the led suit.

Slam / Capot
